Yesterday, the Falcons made the termination of Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff official. Today, they announced the promotion of defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to interim head coach and allowed him to make changes to his staff.
As a result, Jeff Ulbrich has been promoted from linebackers coach to the defensive coordinator role, and the Falcons have terminated special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica, replacing him with Bernie Parmalee, who was the running backs coach.
We have announced additional coaching changes.

With Morris taking over the head coaching role, the promotion of Ulbrich was expected. He played a key role in the Falcons defensive turnaround that led to them finishing last season 6-2, saving the jobs of Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff.
The firing of Kotwica also shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. He was hired prior to the 2019 season, and the Falcons special teams has only gotten worse. After the onside kick blunder that cost Atlanta the game against the Cowboys, it’s almost surprising he held onto his job this long.
