The Falcons made perhaps their last big splash of the offseason by signing Calais Campbell to a one-year contract, and the details of that deal were released today. Campbell will make $7 million in 2023, which could be even more with incentives.
#Falcons Calais Campbell one-year, $7 million deal, $4 million salary (fully guaranteed), $3M signing bonus.
Incentives, up to $2M:
5 sacks: $500K bonus
8 sacks: $500K bonus
60% snaps: $500K bonus
70% snaps: $500K bonus
If 5 sacks and 85% snaps: $1.5M bonus— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) April 6, 2023
At 37-years-old, Campbell isn’t the All-Pro he once was, but he proved last year he still has some juice left in the tank, racking up 5.5 sacks with the Ravens. That’s an incentive that should be in reach for him in 2023, and so should the 60% of snaps if he can stay healthy. I don’t expect him to play 70% of the snaps, and eight sacks would be an absolutely incredible season for a man his age, but who knows? The combination of Campbell, David Onyemata, and Grady Jarrett has a chance to be one of the better interior pass rushing trios in the league.
