The Falcons were busy over the weekend preparing for the NFL Draft later this month. With such deliberation around what Atlanta will do with its first-round pick, many fans forget about the bevy of second and third-rounders the team has at its disposal. The best teams don’t just hit on their first-round selections.
The jury is out on Richie Grant and Jalen Mayfield at this point, but the Falcons hosted an EDGE defender over the weekend that will be available in the second and third rounds — Cincinnati EDGE Myjai Sanders.

Sanders is a long, lean defender with an incredible burst off the line of scrimmage and a seemingly never-ending motor. However, there are worries about his size — listed at 250 pounds but plays around 240 lbs.
That weight presents challenges for Sanders. Since he’s not flexible, he relies on straight-line speed even though his weight limits his bullrush. At this point, Sanders would be a rotational piece along the Falcons’ defensive front. The only way I see him becoming a starting-caliber EDGE defender in this league is if he adds more weight and gets stronger or develops an array of pass rush moves using his hands. He should be available for the Falcons in the third round.
