The Falcons had a weekend full of interviews with prospective head coaches, so here’s a bit of a recap. Despite Bill Belichick seemingly being the team’s top target, Atlanta’s search remains “wide open,” a source told ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Falcons scheduled a second interview with Jim Harbaugh sometime this week. The current Michigan head coach is weighing the option to return to the NFL but has only interviewed with the Falcons and Chargers. His offensive background, experience, and track record put him at the top of most fans’ wishlists for Atlanta’s head coach.
The Falcons, according to the team site, also interviewed Brian Johnson, the Eagles offensive coordinator, and Aaron Glenn, the Lions defensive coordinator, ahead of the weekend.
After announcing his first interview on Monday, Belichick’s second interview was announced just four days later on Friday. The first was a one-on-one with Arthur Blank, but the second had others present like Rich McKay and Terry Fontenot. Despite Rothstein’s report of the search being wide open, the overwhelming belief is Belichick remains the frontrunner.

The Falcons have also requested to interview the Bengals offensive coordinator, Brian Callahan, for a second time, per NFL Network’s Tom Peliserro. Likewise, the club has requested a second interview with Ejiro Evero, according to Pelissero.
Two popular names among Falcons fans also interviewed last night before the clock struck midnight. The Texans’ offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and Lions’ offensive coordinator Ben Johnson met with the team virtually on Sunday, according to the Falcons site.
This week is set to be quite busy for the Falcons, so be sure to follow along at SportsTalkATL.
