The Falcons are in full swing of their search for a new head coach.
Bill Belichick has already completed his second round of interviews, while Jim Harbaugh, Raheem Morris, and others are set to complete their second sometime this week. The club is clearly casting a wide net, at least publicly, into the hiring pool. However, one candidate has been taken off the market.
Ahead of the Falcons second scheduled interview with Brian Callahan, the former Bengals offensive coordinator agreed to become the next head coach of the Titans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
Callahan had his second interview with the Titans on Monday, and Tennessee didn’t let him out of the building. He will replace Mike Vrabel following two straight losing seasons.
Callahan was considered to be one of the hottest names among head coach candidates, but the Titans’ gig wasn’t considered one of the best jobs by most media pundits. Callahan obviously thought differently because he had several interviews left with other teams that have vacancies.
The 39-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the Bengals as their offensive coordinator, helping Joe Burrow lead the offense to the Super Bowl in 2021. He’s known for his work with Burrow, Matthew Stafford, and Peyton Manning.
His entire job in Tennessee will be to develop Titans quarterback Will Levis, and the Falcons will have to take one name off their big board.
Atlanta has a busy week ahead of them with interviews scheduled for Mike Vrabel, Jim Harbaugh, Anthony Weaver, Mike Macdonald, and others.
