Falcons, Grady Jarrett reportedly expected to work out a new deal

NFL: SEP 17 Packers at Falcons

One thing is certain for the Falcons in 2025: Grady Jarrett won’t go into the season under his current deal. GM Terry Fontenot even said he was not “untouchable” earlier this week at his press conference ahead of the NFL Combine.

Jarrett has more cache in Atlanta than anyone. He is the heart and soul of the Atlanta Falcons. However, if we remove the emotion from the equation, it makes it much easier.

Jarrett has a cap hit north of $20 million next season, and the Falcons can save over $16 million against this year’s cap by releasing him, even more if they designate him a post-June 1st cut. That’s a no-brainer, if we are being honest.

The Falcons should approach Jarrett about reworking his contract, whether that’s an outright pay cut or an extension to lessen his 2025 cap hit. If Jarrett refuses, conversations can begin about cutting the veteran. Thankfully, it seems the two sides are headed towards a new deal.

On a call with 92.9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell, Zach Klein said, “Grady doesn’t want to go anywhere. The Falcons don’t want him to go anywhere. They want Atlanta to be the only place he’s ever played.”

From everything Klein said during that interview, all signs point to the Falcons reworking Grady Jarrett’s deal. Hopefully, it’s an extension that keeps the veteran in Atlanta for the rest of his career.
