Coming into Monday Night Football, nobody gave the Falcons a chance to win. Everyone expected the Eagles to come out victorious in their home opener, including all of Philadelphia.
The organization honored Nick Foles’ retirement and Jason Kelce’s return back to Lincoln Financial Field on MNF, a homecoming of sorts for all parties. It was the type of celebration that would only be held during a game where the Eagles figured they’d win.
That celebration bled over into ESPN, obviously. Kelce now works for the outlet, and they did everything they could to shove the Eagles down America’s throat, while occasionally reminding us how poor the Falcons and Kirk Cousins played in Week 1 against the Steelers.
It began in the pregame, with skits between Kelce and Big Dom. It culminated with Jason Kelce joining Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth, with the future Hall of Fame center giving horrible analysis and practically cheering for his Eagles with a beer in his hand on the couch with the boys.
It didn’t necessarily bother me because I like Jason Kelce, but to deny the obviously biased coverage on Monday Night Football would be ridiculous. Pretty much everyone outside of Philadelphia didn’t like it, and a prominent voice on Good Morning Football called it out.
“The E in ESPN stood for Eagles last night,” Kyle Brandt said.
Kyle Brandt speaks for a lot of NFL fans that tuned into Monday Night Football.

This isn’t anything new for the Falcons or their fans. This is business as usual. The franchise has been a laughingstock and punching bag for the rest of the NFL, including its media pundits and broadcast partners.
However, MNF was the perfect way to get back at ESPN and the rest of the rats — winning in comeback fashion.
