Falcons Free Agent Targets 2023: Zach Allen
The Falcons will add to the defensive front, and Zach Allen is an excellent building block.
The Boston College product was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2019 cycle and has become a force over the past two seasons — starting 27 games, totaling 95 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 12 pass deflections, 34 quarterback hits, and 15 tackles for a loss.
He’s coming off a career year in which he recorded 47 tackles, 5.5 sacks, ten tackles for a loss, 20 quarterback hits, and eight pass deflections — all career highs except the tackle total.
He is an ascending player and entering the prime of his career at 25 years old. He also shouldn’t break the bank like Dre’Mont Jones might. Spotrac expects his market value to be $27.9 million over three years, which is about $9 million per year. That is a fine price for a player like Allen. There’s a chance that he exceeds that mark, given the state of the market for interior defenders.
