Falcons free agent Nate Landman finds a new home

NFL: OCT 15 Commanders at Falcons

With Troy Andersen returning from injury and the Falcons signing Divine Deablo, Nate Landman was expendable, but he landed on his feet. The Atlanta free agent has caught on in Los Angeles, inking a one-year deal with the Rams, per Jourdan Rodrigue.

Originally an undrafted free agent out of Colorado, the Falcons signed him in 2022, and he stuck around for three seasons. With Atlanta, Landman totaled 192 total tackles, three sacks, six forced fumbles, four passes defended, and one interception while starting in 23 of 36 games played.

His most impressive season came in 2023. When Andersen went down with a season-ending injury early in the campaign, Landman stepped up. He started in 14 games, racking up 110 total tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, and three passes defended to go along with the interception.

The Falcons chose not to tender him a contract after he became a restricted free agent, and it makes sense for a couple of reasons. The team wanted to get more athletic at the position. Too often, that was a culprit for poor play at the second level. Secondly, Landman offered very little versatility. He’s a one-dimensional linebacker.

The writing was on the wall for Nate Landman once the Falcons signed Divine Deablo. However, he lands on his feet in sunny LA with Chris Shula, one of the brightest young defensive coordinators in football, and a talented defense.

Best of luck to Nate Landman!
