Dante Fowler Jr.’s original contract has officially been re-worked, and it will provide the Falcons with some immediate flexibility.
Per NFL league source, Falcons have restructured Dante Fowler’s contract:
He had a $14-million deal this year, $6-million of which was guaranteed.
Falcons reduced salary to $6-million and added $4-million in incentives.

Fowler’s contract is now heavily laced with incentives, so he’ll be earning every dollar this offseason. A base of $6 million is much better than the previous $14 million, and hopefully the Falcons start spending that money somewhere sooner rather than later. Most of my favorite free agents are gone, but there are still a lot of high-quality names available. This is often when the best value of the offseason is found. Expect Terry Fontenot to be a busy man over the next week.
