The Falcons secondary took two beatings in Week 7. Joe Burrow worked his way down the field efficiently, and injuries decimated Atlanta’s backend. The defense will be without multiple starters ahead of the Falcons Week 8 matchup against the Panthers. Michael Rothstein reports AJ Terrell will be out after tweaking his hamstring against Cincinnati, which he initially injured against the 49ers.

Earlier in the week, Jaylinn Hawkins had already been ruled out of Sunday’s contest.
Still no CB AJ Terrell (hamstring) or S Jaylinn Hawkins (concussion protocol) at Falcons practice.

Injuries are piling up for the Falcons. Terrell is out and considered week-to-week; Dee Alford and Mike Ford are both dealing with lower body injuries, too. Moreover, the most concerning loss is Casey Hayward. The others should be back in the coming weeks, but the veteran free agent addition was placed on the injured reserve  and will likely require surgery, costing him the entire year.
Hopefully, Alford and Ford are healthy enough to go because the Falcons cannot trot Cornell Armstrong out there against the Panthers in hopes of winning. Darren Hall will be the starter opposite Terrell for the rest of the season. He started in place of Hayward on the boundary last week against the Bengals, and even though the entire secondary was torched, it wasn’t because of Hall. The former 4th round pick held up admirably, considering the circumstances. With Hayward on the sidelines, it’s his job to lose.
D.J. Moore is waiting in the wings, so consider this Hall’s extended audition to be a starter in this league. Injuries have decimated Atlanta’s secondary, but depending on your perspective, it could be seen as an opportunity for Hall.
