It is finally the time of the year Falcons fans have been waiting for — the return of red throwback helmets.

Earlier in the offseason, the team announced the return of the red helmets that so many fans have been clamoring for since they last appeared in 2012. The league sent out a memo last year that clubs would be able to add a second helmet option starting in 2022. And the Falcons are taking full advantage, boasting the red helmets twice this season.  Everybody loves the red helmets that Tommy Nobis and the ’60s Falcons dawned; it’s awesome to see them revamped more than 60 years later.
Since a 2013 rule change prevented teams from using more than one style of helmet, NFL fans have been wanting the return of all retro helmets. The Patriots, Giants, Cowboys, and Falcons are classic throwbacks that anyone can appreciate. I’m certainly biased and believe Atlanta’s red helmets are the best-looking, but New York and New England are a close second. I’m just excited we get to see those beautiful throwbacks back in Atlanta.
