Between injuries and an 0-4 start, this season could not have gotten off to a worse start for the Falcons. That trend continued on Monday night. Obviously, the Falcons lost in discouraging fashion to the Packers, but they also lost several key pieces on their defense — most notably, Damontae Kazee, who has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.

This puts the Falcons in a spot few could have imagined at the start of the season. With Kazee now out, all three of the Atlanta’s starting safeties are suffering from injuries. Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen’s don’t seem to be too serious, but they both missed the Packers game and may not be available in Week 5.
Rookie Jaylinn Hawkins, who actually looked pretty good in an increased role early Monday night, also left the game with a possible concussion. We’ll see what happens in the coming days, but the Falcons secondary was already decimated, and it doesn’t look like it is getting better anytime soon.
