It doesn’t feel like it at all, but training camp is well underway and the season opener is less than a month away. That means roster battles are in full swing, although, with no preseason, it will be tough to gauge who exactly is winning any of them.
One of the most critical competitions before the season will be at left guard. The Falcons have a bevy of options, but they lost one of them today, at least for the next week or so, as Dan Quinn told the media today that Jamon Brown has entered concussion protocol.

Brown was part of the Falcons 2019 free-agent class. He competed for the starting left guard job last season as well but lost to James Carpenter. However, since Chris Lindstrom broke his foot in Week 1, Brown took over at right guard. However, his performance was unsightly.
Speaking of Chris Lindstrom, there has been nothing but positive things said about him so far this offseason. If you remember, after Austin Hooper signed with the Browns, he told Vaughn Mcclure that he thought Lindstrom would be one of the best offensive guards in the league. The coaches seem to echo that sentiment, and today Dan Quinn was raving about his performance.
Speed, quickness, strength are the things that Dan Quinn said has stood out with offensive guard Chris Lindstrom.

Lindstrom was able to return last year for the final four games, and it’s no coincidence that the Falcons went 4-0 over that stretch while the offense soared, averaging nearly thirty points a contest. Earlier this week, he called that experience invaluable, and it looks like he is going to take a massive step forward in year two.
