While it’s being reported that Dave Ragone of the Chicago Bears is likely to join Arthur Smith’s staff in Atlanta, another name has entered the mix:
The #Falcons have interviewed #Panthers WRs coach
Frisman Jackson for their OC job under Arthur Smith, source said. Frisman, who also interviewed for Carolina’s QBs coach job, joins #Bears passing game coordinator Dave Ragone as top OC candidates in ATL.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 18, 2021
I listed some potential coaching candidates Smith was likely to consider, but I didn’t have Frisman Jackson on my radar. Jackson was the Tight Ends Coach in Tennessee during Smith’s time there, so they do have a connection. Carolina has seen DJ Moore blossom and Robby Anderson revive his career in 2020, so I can see the appeal. Arthur Smith will likely still handle play calling responsibilities, but whoever he brings on as his “second in command” would be used similarly to guys like Mike LaFleur under Kyle Shanahan and Shane Waldron under Sean McVay.
