The Falcons could begin a new era in Atlanta as a deadline for Matt Ryan’s future looms Monday at 4 pm. Which means they could have a massive hole to fill under center. Atlanta could look to the veteran free agent market or this quarterback draft class to fill the void, and they’re certainly doing their due diligence. At Pittsburgh’s Pro Day, the Falcons brass is out in full force.

The Falcons could rework Ryan’s contract to keep him in Atlanta on a similar length contract, but I see it going one of two ways. Either Atlanta extends him or trades him. If it is the latter scenario, the Falcons will be looking towards the future, and Pickett could be the answer. One thing is clear, the regime sees the Pittsburgh product as a serious candidate to eventually replace Ryan in Atlanta.
