Chad Reuter of NFL.com gave his projection of the 2023 NFL Offensive All-Rookie Team, and Falcons‘ first-rounder Bijan Robinson made the cut.
Robinson might be splitting carries early in the season with the Falcons’ leading rusher from last year, 2022 fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier. It’s only a matter of time, though, before the eighth overall pick of this year’s draft is the team’s top playmaker from the backfield, exploiting creases for big runs and evading defenders in the open field as a receiver.
There’s no doubt Robinson will be the top rookie runner in 2023. He’s arguably the most pro-ready prospect at the position that is the easiest to transition from college to pro. On top of that, he couldn’t have landed in a more perfect situation.
Atlanta is a run-heavy offense, but Arthur Smith will use him all over the field. Bijan Robinson’s skill set is better described as an offensive weapon than a running back. He’ll garner the most touches of anyone on the offense and should feast next to Tyler Allgeier, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kyle Pitts, Jonnu Smith, and Drake London.
Not only will the Texas product slot in on the All-Rookie team, but fans can also expect him to challenge for the Rookie of the Year award. He’s currently the betting favorite.
Look out for Matthew Bergeron to potentially challenge the Seahwks’ Anthony Bradford and Cardinals’ Paris Johnson to make the team at guard. If the Syracuse product can assimilate to the league quickly, he should be in consideration, given the Falcons’ offensive line’s acumen.
Depending on how the secondary shakes out, look out for Clark Phillips as a dark horse candidate to squeak out a spot on this All-Rookie team defense as well.
