After losing Alex Mack during the 2021 offseason, the Falcons were likely slotted to receive a sixth- or seventh-round compensatory pick. Now, it is official. The league released its list of compensatory picks Tuesday night, and the Falcons were awarded a sixth-round selection — No. 213.

The NFL awards additional draft picks to organizations that let go of a certain amount of talent in free agency, compared to the number of acquisitions. Those teams with a net loss from the previous free agent cycle are generally granted compensatory selections.

This year, the Falcons were given one of 31 selections awarded to 15 different teams. It is a pretty complicated process of how the league calculates who gets picks and how many — based on postseason honors, playing time, and compensation earned.

Here’s the complete list of Falcons 2022 draft picks

1st round — No. 8 overall

2nd round — No. 43

2nd round — No. 58 (via TEN)

3rd round — No. 74

4th round — No. 114

5th round — No. 151

6th round — No. 190
