After months of lying in the grass, the Falcons have shown that they are not quite done in free agency. Last week, they added cornerback Darqueze Dennard to a one-year contract, and today, Vaughn Mcclure of ESPN reports they are going to re-sign safety J.J. Wilcox.
Can confirm that safety J.J. Wilcox is set to re-sign with the Falcons pending a physical. It would be a one-year deal, source said.

The Falcons added Wilcox last offseason for depth in their secondary, but he tore his ACL early in training camp, costing him the remainder of the season.
Wilcox was originally drafted in the third round by the Dallas Cowboys, where he played four seasons, appearing in 58 games, including 38 starts. He then spent time with the Steelers, Colts, and Jets over the next two seasons before signing with the Falcons.
Safety is a position of strength for the Falcons heading into the 2020 campaign. However, when you take into account the injury history of the two starters — Ricardo Allen and Keanu Neal — and the facts that positive COVID-19 tests could cost players time, you can never have too much depth in the secondary.
