The Falcons announced a flurry of roster moves on Thursday afternoon, including one surprising cut.
Atlanta signed Nathan Rourke, who won the MVP equivalent in the CFL, and Jordan Thomas while parting ways with John Paddock and Daylen Bladwin in corresponding moves.

Paddock, an undrafted rookie free agent, was the surprise because he apparently impressed earlier in the offseason. Though a roster spot was inconceivable with Kirk Cousins, Michael Penix Jr. and Taylor Heinicke ahead of him on the depth chart, a practice squad spot was certainly achievable.
Rourke has spent time in the CFL and NFL, spending the last two years bouncing around the league’s practice squads, including the Jaguars, Patriots and Giants.
As far as Thomas, he’s a glorified tackle. The tight end stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 280 pounds, last playing for the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League this spring after originally being a sixth-round pick by the Texans in 2018.
Across 27 games in five NFL seasons, Thomas has recorded just 22 receptions for 226 yards and five touchdwons, while spending time in New England, Arizona, Indianapolis, and Carolina.
Thomas will have an uphill battle to make the Falcons roster with Kyle Pitts, Charlie Woerner, John FitzPatrick, and Ross Dwelley in the tight end room.
