According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Consitution, Alex Mack has been named the NFL Players Association’s new treasurer.
Mack, the Atlanta Falcons’ starting center and a potential future Hall of Famer will serve a two-year term in the position. This would lead one to believe that the 33-year-old envisions himself playing at least a couple of more seasons. He will have his work cut out for him since he’s been named treasurer during a CBA negotiation that many have not been pleased with. The deadline for voting has been extended to midnight Eastern Standard Time on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if free agency is a bit slower next week if the new CBA is not in place, and they have to go back to the drawing table.
