Steven Means gave the Falcons some quality reps from the defensive end position in 2018, which led to Atlanta signing him to a one-year deal for 2019. Unfortunately, a torn Achilles cost him the entire season, but the Falcons still decided to offer him another one-year contract for 2020. He was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on August 29th but has since tested negative for the virus multiple times, clearing him to return to the team just in time for Week 1.
Deone Bucannon was signed by the Falcons this offseason. He has experience playing both safety and linebacker and was listed on the depth chart as the team’s fifth linebacker behind rookie Mykal Walker and LaRoy Reynolds. The fact that the Falcons were comfortable parting ways with him is a promising sign regarding Walker’s potential.
