Falcons 2022 opponents officially set

The Falcons finished the 2021 season 7-10, which depending on who you ask was a resounding success or failure. Pessimists will point towards the bevy of bottom-five statistical categories the Falcons finished in; optimists will rebuttal with the lack of talent handcuffing the coaching staff. Regardless of how you feel, the Falcons improved by three games and the takeaway should be somewhere in the middle of those two polarizing points of view.

The Falcons benefited from a weaker schedule in 2021 after placing fourth in the division the previous year, which pitted them against other last-place division finishers. Atlanta also benefited greatly from drawing the AFC and NFC East, which are two of the worst divisions in football. The Falcons’ opponents’ winning percentage of .472 was tied for the fourth-lowest winning percentage in the NFL.

Obviously, finishing with a 4-12 record will engineer an easier schedule the following year, but things won’t be the same in 2022. The Falcons will face the NFC West — Rams, 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks — and AFC North — Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, and Browns. The Falcons will also face the Bears, Chargers, and Washington Football Team after finishing third in their division. Atlanta will play seven teams next year who made the playoffs in 2021.
