More moves had to be made on Sunday as Arodys Vizcaino was sent to the 10-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation. The move was retroactive to Vizcaino’s last appearance on June 21st. In a subsequent move, the Braves called up Evan Phillips from AAA Gwinnett.
The #Braves today selected the contract of RHP Evan Phillips from Triple-A Gwinnett & placed RHP Arodys VizcaÃno on the 10-day DL, retroactive to June 21, with right shoulder inflammation. The club also designated INF Phil Gosselin for assignment. Phillips will wear No. 61.

Phillips has been a player on the cusp of the call-up for quite some time, especially with the Braves bullpen proving to be inconsistent at times. With the Stripers, he has posted a 2.31 ERA with 50 strikeouts over 35 innings this season. The Braves will be looking for extra arms as they attempt to reach the postseason for the first time since 2013. If Phillips could prove to be a viable option in middle relief, it could save the team prospects and money down the road.
