Eric Young Jr. signed with the Braves this offseason after spending the 2014 season with the Mets. The Braves expected Young Jr. to at least compete for the starting center field spot this season. However, in 35 games with the Braves Young only manage to hit .169. While Young stuggled, Cameron Maybin excelled and became the everyday center fielder for the Braves. The Braves soon demoted Young Jr. to AAA.
The Braves traded away Young for virtually nothing, but now he gets a chance to go back to a familiar team and perhaps make a difference in their playoff run. If he stays with the major league club, the Mets will likely utilize him for his tremendous speed and base running abilities. It is unfortunate he did not pan out for the Braves, but fans should be more than happy with what they got in Cameron Maybin.
