Things simply didn’t work out the way Eric Young Jr. hoped they would with Atlanta. Coming out of Spring Training it looked like the speedster could play a big role for the Braves, but with his struggles and Cameron Maybin’s career rejuvenation, he’s seen the field sparingly in past weeks. It looks like Young’s time with Atlanta is coming to an end, as he was DFA’d by the team to make room for Joey Terdoslavich, who just came back from a wrist injury he sustained in Spring Training. This is a move that strengthens our bench, and Terdo and Todd Cunningham will battle for a backup role for when Kelly Johnson returns. If not for Johnson’s injury, Young Jr. likely would have been gone a while ago. He hit just .169 in 77 At-Bats with Atlanta. Terdo may be able to offer the team some power off the bench. He had a .256 average, 15 homers and 61 RBI for AAA Gwinnett last season. He is 20-for-91 in various short stints with Atlanta the past couple seasons.
