According to The Falcoholic, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who was reportedly Arthur Blank’s pick of the litter coming into the interview process, did not help his cause when he met with Blank and Rich McKay. This was initially reported by Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson.
A quote from the piece on Bieniemy:
[The Falcons] literally want to hire a Black coach. They would love for him to crush the interview. He did not crush the interview, and these teams care a lot about these interviews.
This probably isn’t music to the ears of a lot of the fan base. After what he’s done in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes, most everybody would have at least been content had Bieniemy been hired as the next head coach. However, we are not in the room listening to him answer questions. I can say, though, I’m a little shocked that he hasn’t been able to impress anybody in these interviews — at least not that we know of — based on what we saw from him in this clip.

Bieniemy’s also been praised profusely by Mahomes and Andy Reid. Still, it doesn’t look like it is going to be enough to land the Falcons job. The article also linked Titans OC Arthur Smith to Atlanta along with former Texans GM Rick Smith, which holds some weight considering he covers the Texans.
