The East-West Shrine Bowl is one of the most prestigious college football all-star games and certainly the longest-standing one, being played annually since 1925. This year, one of the Falcons‘ own will be leading the East team.

Atlanta’s special teams coach, Marquice Williams, coached the East squad in 2023, and he will once again get the opportunity to do so, according to Adam Schefter.

Ironically, in 2023, there was nothing but field goals, with the West Team winning 12-3.

What’s not ironic is Marquice Williams getting another crack at the Shrine Bowl. He was one of the few coaches who staved off the hangman when Arthur Smith was fired last offseason, keeping his role in leading the third phase of the game, where he’s been since 2021 in Atlanta.

While Younghoe Koo struggled this season, Williams’ success with the Falcons special teams is apparent with the Pro Bowl selection of KhaDarel Hodge and the outstanding individual efforts of Bradley Pinion and Liam McCullough.

Congratulations to Marquice Williams on the honor!
