Another member of the Falcons’ first draft class under Terry Fontenot has signed elsewhere, Avery Williams, who is joining the Super Bowl champion Eagles on a one-year deal.

The 26-year-old was originally drafted out of Boise State in 2021. As a fifth-round pick, Williams actually contributed a decent amount, all things considered.

This past season, Williams rushed for 109 yards on 22 carries, scoring once, to go along with 13 receptions for 61 yards. He also returned 20 punts for 185 yards (9.3 YPR) and 15 kickoffs for 408 yards (27.2 YPR).

Williams tore his ACL a couple of years ago and has never been the same. He was a good returner before the injury, but he’s clearly lost some burst since then. Hopefully, a year removed from the ACL will benefit him in Philadelphia.

Richie Grant, the 2021 second-rounder, inked a free agent deal with the 49ers, which brings Fontenot’s nine-man draft class to just two rostered players. The Falcons welcomed Ta’Quon Graham back and Kyle Pitts is entering his fifth-year option year.
