By now, you’ve heard the term Philly Dawgs. The Athens to Philadelphia pipeline is the most fruitful college to NFL stream, and the Eagles might dip right back into the Georgia Bulldogs well.
In his latest mock draft, the well-respected Daniel Jeremiah had former All-American safety Malaki Starks fall all the way to the No. 32, right into Howie Roseman’s lap.
“The Eagles add another versatile piece to the secondary in Starks, who joins the “Georgia North” all-stars in Philadelphia,” DJ wrote.
Starks would join fellow Dawgs in Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, and others, who are fresh off a Super Bowl. It would be a similar scenario as Carter falling in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Carter fell due to character concerns and off-the-field issues. The Falcons elected to draft Bijan Robinson instead of the Bulldogs standout, and Georgia fans don’t let the Falcons forget it. While Bijan Robinson is an elite player at his position — in no way a bust — Jalen Carter plays a more premium position, which just so happens to be the single biggest weakness in Atlanta.
Starks is projected to go somewhere in the top 20, so if he were to fall all the way to the Eagles, who own the final pick in the first round, it would represent the same instance where Howie Roseman does nothing special. The Philly GM just lets other GMs make mistakes and cleans up after them.
Malaki Starks regressed in 2024, but would anyone be surprised if he joined the Philly Dawgs and became a top contributor? Georgia fans certainly wouldn’t.
