Draft rumors are like elbows, just about everyone has them. We got one today about the Falcons potentially moving back up into the first round:
New NFL Draft Hot Press
– The Jets were going to take Jahmyr Gibbs at 15
– Keeanu Benton and Gervon Dexter have been risers for round 2
– Baylor DT Siaki Ika was flunked medically by some teams
– Atlanta was waiting to trade up for Jack Campbell

I could buy the Falcons moving up for Campbell. I was high on him going into this process, but Detroit grabbed him much earlier than I expected. Campbell tested out of his mind, and the Falcons have a need at linebacker. He has that alpha dawg mentality and does just about everything pretty well. He’s similar athletically to Troy Andersen, but with much more polished instincts and game sense. Here’s my scouting report on Campbell:
1. Jack Campbell — Iowa
It was hard to pick between Simpson, Sanders, and Campbell — but I have to give the nod to Campbell here. His leadership and instincts are second to none, but his athletic ability and size are equally as impressive. He’s the total package at the linebacker position, and if he improves in coverage, he’s probably going to be a Pro Bowler more than once.
RAS: 9.98
With Drew Sanders and Trenton Simpson still available, I’m fine with the Falcons holding at 44 in the second round. They should have a couple of pretty good options.
