There is an NFL factory in Athens. Since Kirby Smart took over the Georgia program, nobody has produced more draft picks than the Bulldogs.
There are some absolutely ridiculous stats about Smart’s impressive resume. The Dawgs head coach has produced more first-round picks (17) than losses (16) during his eight seasons in Athens.
Georgia has now had multiple first-round picks for three consecutive years and has had a first-rounder in seven consecutive drafts. Eight Bulldogs went in the 2024 cycle, bringing Smart’s total to 63 total players drafted.
All of those will be extended this year too. Three Dawgs are expected to go in the first round and even more in the later rounds of the draft. Malaki Starks, Jalon Walker, and Mykel Williams will hear their names called on Thursday, April 28, which pretty much solidifies the Georgia program as the best in the country in terms of producing NFL talent.
Daniel Jeremiah had a hilarious quote during the NFL Combine: “When you commit to the University of Georgia, you get the combine invite in the mail the next business day.”
If you’re a 4 or 5-star recruit and commit to Kirby Smart and Georgia, you’ll probably end up in the NFL. There’s nobody better at developing NFL talent, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, than Smart and the Dawgs.
