Debunking the Hawks worst Twitter takes

I don’t know about you, but I spend too much time reading Twitter replies instead of focusing on my zoom meetings. While the season is on hiatus (or possibly over) for the Hawks, now is a good time to look at some takes that would make Jason Whitlock proud.

5. John Collins Slander

Really? Not a single team in the NBA would offer a max contract to John Collins? In 41 games this season, Collins averaged 21/10 on 66% true shooting. During February, the 22-year-old averaged 25/10 on 72% true shooting. I don’t know about you, but I hate springy bigs than can run the floor, posterize defenders, and knockdown 3’s.

4. Trae Young = Quinn Cook

This guy has to be trolling. Cook has averaged one 3-pointer and two assists per game for his career. Great role player, but nowhere near Young’s current level or ceiling.

3. Timberwolves Front Office Logic

Ah yes, I would much prefer one All-Star on a 5-year, $158 million contract rather than an All-Star and future All-Star who are both on their rookie contracts. On February 5th, Young/Collins combined for 65 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists in a win over Minnesota. 

2. Cam Reddish Cold Take

Check the date on this tweet. What in the world did Cam do during the season suspension to earn this? I guess I could wrap my mind around it if this were posted back in November. But Reddish finished up averaging 10/4 and while flashing moments of brilliance on the defensive end.

1. The Worst Tweet Ever

Wait. How did Chick-Fil-A catch a stray in all this? If you don’t like those heavenly chicken sandwiches then you need to take a look at yourself in the mirror. Plus, if you did a 2019 re-draft, Reddish is still getting picked at the #10 spot.

Twitter is always going to be a bastion of bad takes. Rather than let it upset you, just laugh and keep it moving. Whenever the draft and free agency take place, the Hawks are going to surround the young core with the parts needed to become a playoff contender. #TrustInTravis #StandWithSchlenk.
