The Falcons are gearing up for a highly anticipated season in which the expectation is the club ends their postseason drought and hosts the first playoff game in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It all begins Sunday against the Steelers and the Falcons’ former head coach Arthur Smith. Atlanta will be rocking in anticipation of the Raheem Morris and Kirk Cousins era, but not everything is peachy for the Dirty Birds.
On Wednesday afternoon, Morris told reporters that a critical piece of the offense is dealing with an injury. Kyle Pitts, along with Nate Landman, are nursing injuries.

Pitts’ career in Atlanta has been defined by poor quarterback play and injuries. He’s been banged up some, but the big one was a knee injury that cost him the final six games of the 2022 season. 2023 was healthy when just glancing at the injury report, but Pitts was still clearly impacted by the MCL and PCL tears.
The hope was that a full healthy offseason with a competent quarterback throwing him the ball would enable him to return to his 2021 level of production. Now, he’s not even starting the 2024 campaign fully healthy.
Hamstring injuries, like anything soft tissue related, are tricky. First, a player like Kyle Pitts, who relies on his explosion, is more severely affected than someone who doesn’t rely on their explosion as much. Secondly, the Falcons star tight end is now liable to re-injure the hamstring injury.
It’s a terrible situation for both parties, but hopefully, it’s nothing more than a precaution. Raheem Morris isn’t concerned, at least.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris isn't concerned about tight end Kyle Pitts' hamstring injury: "Just trying to be transparent about all that stuff. … It really hasn't affected him too much."
