Some say Cristian Pache is the best defensive center fielder in the entire organization. And yes, that is including Gold Glove outfielder Ender Inciarte.
Due to his defensive prowess, his contact bat, and 70-grade speed, Pache has long been considered a potentially elite prospect down the road. In 2018, he has made the strides in his game that could turn him into a true five-tool prospect.
For the first 176 games and 750 plate appearances of his professional career, Pache did not hit a single home run. He raised eyebrows when he hit two in the Futures exhibition game against the big leaguers, and he has not looked back. His total on the season is currently at 8.
We have seen this with another young player in the Braves system in Ozzie Albies. He seemingly had to “grow into” his power but is now an elite extra-base hitter at the highest stage.
As things stand today, Pache is competing for the title of the best outfielder in the Braves system with Drew Waters and is one to keep an eye on. There is nothing he does not do well, and he mas the makings of a potential all-star caliber player.
