Players often publicly voice their support for an organization to hire a particular coach or acquire a particular player. So, it’s no surprise Cordarrelle Patterson is making no bones about his choice for the Falcons’ open defensive coordinator position — Brian Flores.

The Falcons reportedly requested to interview the current Steelers assistant to replace the recently retired Dean Pees, and a lot of fans would be thrilled if Atlanta landed Brian Flores.
The former Miami Dolphins head coach was fired after three seasons in January 2022 after posting a 24-25 record. Within the next month, Flores filed a lawsuit seeking class-action status and unspecified damages from the NFL, Dolphins, Texans, and others. The league seemingly blackballed Flores, and it remains one of the biggest warts in NFL history.
With ongoing litigation, Mike Tomlin hired Flores to join his staff in Pittsburgh. The Steelers always knew it would be a short-term relationship. Flores is primed to take over another defense again, and it seems he’ll have a choice of several jobs.
Prior to his stint in Miami, Brian Flores worked under Bill Belichick for a decade in various roles while serving as a scout for New England before then. He would be a home run hire for the Falcons, and Cordarrelle Patterson recognizes that.
