The Hawks are coming off one of their best seasons in a while, and the anticipation for the upcoming season is palpable around Atlanta. Travis Schlenk locked up Trae Young and John Collins while bringing back Lou Williams, and also added more depth the point guard position by trading for Delon Wright. The team is deep, ascending, and exciting. There is no shortage of confidence on this team either:
Clint Capela: “I can guarantee that we’ll be back in the playoffs.”
— Chris Kirschner (@ChrisKirschner) September 27, 2021
Capela guaranteeing a playoff appearance is something the Hawks haven’t heard in a long time. This Atlanta team is special, and they know it. That confidence isn’t just from Capela; the entire squad exudes the same level of conviction:
Kevin Huerter on the approach from opponents this season against the Hawks: “I don’t think Atlanta is going to be a party city anymore.”
— Chris Kirschner (@ChrisKirschner) September 27, 2021
Huerter is waiting on a contract extension to get done, but he’s also fully aware of what Atlanta has meant to other NBA teams for a long time. Known for the incredible food and nightlife, Atlanta is now home to an every-year contender. Teams will have to focus on the task at hand to win in State Farm Arena instead of what wings they were having at Magic City after the game.
