We have raved about the early performance from Greyson Jenista since his pro debut, but a draft class-mate of his may be showing him up. Third base prospect CJ Alexander has been on a hot tear from the second he took the field.
Alexander was a 20th round pick from State College of Florida, known for his power and throwing arm tools. He is big and powerful at 6’5” and clearly projects to play one of the corner infield positions long-term. He was considered one of the biggest fallers in the Draft. For this reason many were surprised he signed with the Braves, but here we are.
Since coming into the Braves system, he has shown great hitting ability, batting .391 with a 1.033 OPS in 24 games between GCL and Danville. For a guy who isn’t very quick, he’s belted 5 triples in 24 games.
Sure, he is a bit older than some of the competition because he came from JUCO. But this type of production is impressive at any level. For this reason, CJ Alexander is our Prospect of the Week, because he needs to be on every Braves fan’s radar right now.
