The Falcons sit atop the NFC South with a perfect 4-0 record in the division, including a season sweep of the three-time defending champion Buccaneers.
Atlanta is off to their best start at 6-3 since their magical Super Bowl run. Kirk Cousins is hitting his stride with Zac Robinson and the Falcons offense looks like a top 10 unit. The defense has been bad at times but opportunistic.
For the first time in years, Falcons fans look forward to Sundays, even following a quiet trade deadline, which upset some fans. The club is in the driver’s seat of the NFC South, and honestly, their focus should be ahead of them at the Lions and Commanders for the top seed in the conference.
Everything is good in Atlanta. The investment in Kirk Cousins is paying dividends. Raheem Morris has proven worthy of a second chance as a head coach, and his pick for offensive coordinator seems like a home run.
At the halfway point in the season, the Falcons are looking good to everyone except for one moron. CBS Sports pundit Ryan Wilson gave the Falcons a ‘C’ midseason grade while giving the Panthers and Saints ‘B+’ grades. What makes it even more puzzling is his explanation, that because Carolina and New Orleans are looking ahead to 2025, they both get great grades.
So, the Panthers get a B+ for giving Chuba Hubbard an extension? This is the same club that gave Miles Sanders a long-term contract 18 months ago and traded up in the 2024 NFL Draft to spend a premium pick on Jonathon Brooks, who hasn’t even made his debut. Yeah, okay. And the Saints get a B+ for trading Marshon Lattimore and firing Dennis Allen? Don’t make me laugh.
But the division-leading Falcons, who look like they’re ascending to contention for the foreseeable future under Raheem Morris, get a C because they didn’t make a move at the trade deadline? Yeah, I’m disappointed too, but let’s not act like that defines the first half of the season, which was an overwhelming success.
This guy is a moron.
