Brian Snitker to Ronald Acuna Jr.: “You’re gonna get to play in the World Series this time”

Braves Ronald Acuña

In a bit of poetic justice, the Braves clinched their sixth straight NL East title against the Phillies last night, the same team that knocked them out of the postseason a year ago.

With 16 games remaining, the celebration might not have been as wild as it was a year ago when the Braves clinched on one of the final days of the season, but there were still plenty of emotional scenes caught between the players. None more so than this moment shared between Braves manager Brian Snitker and the potential 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.

Ronald Acuna Jr. was likely on his way to his first NL MVP award in 2021 before tearing his ACL just ahead of the All-Star break. The injury obviously ended his season, preventing him from being a part of the Braves 2021 World Series run, but it also prevented him from looking like himself in 2022.

Now, Acuna is fully healthy again. He should be named the 2023 NL MVP at the end of the season, but what he’s most excited about is helping the Braves to another World Series title.

In baseball, it’s important not to count your chickens before they hatch. The Braves have been the best team in the league by a wide margin this season, which is why they clinched the NL East with 16 games remaining. However, all the success and history they have made during the regular season goes out the window when October rolls around. Nothing is guaranteed, but from this clip, you can see how confident everyone is in the clubhouse about returning to the Fall Classic for the second time in the last three years.
