On top of a series loss to the Cardinals, Ozzie Albies left the game with a wrist injury. The exact severity of the injury has yet to be revealed, but as Braves manager Brian Snitker put it, “It’s not good.”
Ozzie Albies is still having his left wrist evaluated, but #Braves manager Brian Snitker said “it’s not good” and Albies will go on the IL.

Ozzie Albies is the latest Braves star to go on the IL, and this comes right after it was announced Max Fried will also be placed on the IL with a forearm injury. Hopefully, the injury to Albies is not season-ending, but it certainly appears like he’ll have to miss several weeks, if not months.
How the Braves replace Ozzie Albies will be interesting. Zack Short makes the most sense immediately, but he can’t be starting everyday for several months if the Braves want to have success. Perhaps this is the time we finally see Nacho Alvarez? The Braves hottest prospect has been nothing short of sensational since being promoted to Gwinnett, and while he doesn’t have experience at second base, it’s reasonable to believe he can handle the position defensively.
It’s also possible the Braves look for external options at the trade deadline. Bo Bichette is a big name that immediately comes to mind, and he could also potentially replace Orlando Arcia at shortstop if Albies returns later in the season. That now becomes a much more intriguing option Alex Anthopoulos may consider because of the circumstances.
