Evans was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class and appeared mostly as a returner in his first two seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, averaging 8.8 yards per return on 21 attempts. As a receiver, he caught nine balls for 88 yards this season.
It’s not a huge loss for the Bulldogs, who are bringing in a healthy amount of freshman talent at the position, and they will assuredly be active in the transfer portal. But wide receiver was a weak point for this team, so losing the depth is certainly concerning.
This is just the start of what could be a mass exodus for the Bulldogs in the transfer portal following their loss in the Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame. As former Bulldogs star David Pollack said he expects as many as 25-35 players to test the waters of what’s become college football’s form of free agency.Â
