BREAKING: Falcons trade for star pass rusher Matthew Judon

NFL: OCT 16 Patriots at Browns

According to Jordan Schultz, the Falcons and Patriots are finalizing a trade that will send Matthew Judon to Atlanta in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.

Amid rumors that New England was fielding trade calls on the Pro Bowl pass rusher, we speculated the Falcons could be one of the clubs interested. Now, it’s come to fruition.

Bralen Trice has been lost for the season, and the Falcons were expected to replace him in some fashion. It comes in the form of a 32-year-old star pass rusher. Since signing with the Patriots in free agency during the 2021 offseason, the veteran has racked up 32 sacks and 33 tackles for loss over 38 games in Foxborough.

Judon turns 32 before the start of the season and is coming off a season-ending bicep injury, so that’s why the Patriots might be hesitant to give him a new deal, but if you’re the Falcons, beggars can’t be choosers.

Matthew Judon immediately becomes the Falcons’ best pass rusher since John Abraham was roaming the Georgia Dome. The next step may be a new contract, which Judon has been requesting from the Patriots this entire offseason.

If you’re the Falcons, you acquiesce to his request.
