The Braves have a handful of players to make a decision on before 8:00 PM EST tonight.
The Braves must decide whether to tender contracts to these players by 8 pm ET tonight (w/arb estimate)
Duvall-$9.1M
Swanson-$10.1M
Jackson-$3.8M
Arcia-$2.1M
Heredia-$1.6M
Rodriguez-$3.1M
Camargo-$1.4M
Minter-$2.1M
Fried-$7.1M
Soroka-$2.8M
Newcomb-$900K
Matzek-$1.5M
Riley-$4.3M— Matt Chrietzberg (@BravesMattC) November 30, 2021
Give Matt a follow, he’s always on top of this stuff. Regardless, a lot of these are slam dunks. Austin Riley, Tyler Matzek, Max Fried, AJ Minter, Luke Jackson, and Dansby Swanson will be back. That’s where things get hairy.
There have been whispers about Mike Soroka potentially being non-tendered, but I don’t buy it. He’s far too talented to let walk over ~$3 million. Adam Duvall‘s status is truly up in the air, and I think it’s a coin flip if he’s back or not. I would be okay with letting him walk if something is worked out with Jorge Soler or Eddie Rosario, but I really want to keep him. The fact that Marcell Ozuna is cleared to play immediately throws another wrench in that decision.
I’d be willing to give Sean Newcomb another go-round at the price. Other than that, I think the Braves will non-tender:
Orlando Arcia gets the edge over Johan Camargo, as he can play shortstop. Heredia is a great story, and I’m happy he got his ring, but with so many outfielders in play, I don’t see him sticking around. The Braves JUST traded for Richard Rodriguez, but I don’t see the point in dedicating ~$3 million to a guy who throws one pitch. We’ll see what the Braves decide to do today, as it’s likely the last roster moves we’ll have before a potentially long lockout.
