Braves: Which 2023 draft picks landed on top prospect lists?

COLLEGE BASEBALL: MAY 24 SEC Baseball Tournament Florida vs Alabama

The Braves had, in my eyes, a successful 2023 draft. They managed to pick up College World Series star Hurston Waldrep, and they added a few more top prospects according to Baseball America and MLBPipeline. The Braves needed some help in terms of prospects, and I think they got it. Here’s where some of the top guys from the 2023 class land according to BA and MLB.

Round 1, Pick 24: RHP Hurston Waldrep, Florida

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #2 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #2 Prospect

Round 2, Pick 59: RHP Drue Hackenberg, Virginia Tech

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #9 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #17 Prospect

Round 2, Pick 70: RHP Cade Kuehler, Campbell

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #10 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #4 Prospect

Round 3, Pick 94: SS Sabin Ceballos, Oregon

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #23 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #18 Prospect

Round 4, Pick 126: RHP Garrett Baumann, Hagerty HS (FL)

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #22 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #19 Prospect

Round 5, Pick 162: OF Isaiah Drake, North Atlanta HS (GA)

Baseball America Ranking: Braves #21 Prospect

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #23 Prospect

Round 6, Pick 189: RHP Lucas Braun, Cal State Northridge

Baseball America Ranking: N/A

MLB Pipeline Ranking: Braves #29 Prospect

Conclusion:

As expected with a team like the Braves who have a thin farm system, this draft class was going to be a big injection of talent. Throw in the fact that the Braves have made multiple trades that have cleared out prospects, and you’re going to see some new faces. The Braves are going to need to get some contributions out of these guys as they look to potentially make some offseason trades and plug holes in the major league club as they come up.
