With the MLB offseason beginning, the Braves are off to a quick start, per usual. Alex Anthopoulos has already rid the payroll of the remaining $32 million left on Jorge Soler’s contract through a trade with the Angels. The latest news comes from David O’Brien, who reports that the veteran Cavan Biggio has elected free agency.
#Braves’ Cavan Biggio elected free agency.

The utility man was non-tendered due to his projected arbitration salary of $4.3 million. When removed from the 40-man roster, Biggio had the opportunity to exercise his right to free agency.
Biggio slashed only .197/.314/.303 over 78 games between three different teams in 2024, and the Braves needed infield depth down the stretch in the wake of so many injuries. He only played in five games for Atlanta, recording one hit.
This was always expected.
