It probably wasn’t the 4th of July weekend Touki Toussaint was hoping for, as he was designated for assignment on Saturday, ending his tenure as a Brave. The once highly-touted prospect made his Atlanta debut back in 2018 and flashed his potential several times over four seasons with the team, but like most young arms, consistency — especially with his command — prevented him from sustained success. And after beginning this season abysmally with Gwinnett, the Braves decided to move on from him to make room on the 40-man roster.
Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for Toussaint to catch on with another organization. Last night, the Braves announced they have traded him to the Angels for cash considerations.

Landing with the Angels could a be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which way you look at it. The Angels have been notoriously bad at developing pitching, but because of that, Toussaint could work his way onto the major-league roster rather quickly if he can turn things around. Regardless, hopefully he can make the proper adjustments to get his career back on track. He was a pleasure to watch during his Braves tenure, and he’s a guy that is easy to root for.
