The Braves have been putting one player on the injured list after another, with Max Fried and Ozzie Albies being the most recent. It feels like every week someone goes down, but they’re also coming back at a similar rate.
Today, it’s one of Atlanta’s top prospects in Hurston Waldrep who is making his return, as the club announced he’ll begin a rehab assignment with the Florida Complex League Braves on Tuesday along with Jimmy Herget.

Herget has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since early June after allowing three earned runs over 7.1 innings this season.
Waldrep has been dealing with right elbow inflammation and has been on the IL since June 17 but didn’t have much success in Atlanta. In two starts with the Braves this season, the 2023 first-round pick allowed 13 runs over seven innings.
Despite his rapid ascension through the farm system, Hurston Waldrep still has to refine his craft. With the Braves rostering so many capable arms, Waldrep should be afforded the opportunity to continue to improve at the minor-league level.
