With Ian Anderson struggling, a lot of people (including myself) have been clamoring for Braves’ top prospect Kyle Muller to return to Atlanta. Unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait for that to happen. Despite his recent dominance in AAA, Muller suffered a broken hand on a comebacker during practice the other day and is not currently in the plans to make his next start for Gwinnett.

The good news is the injury is on his non-throwing hand, and it looks like the team is trying to figure out a way for him to avoid an IL stint.
That would be ideal, but if Muller is expected to miss extended time, it makes targeting another starting pitcher at the trade deadline that much more of a priority. I’m not against Ian Anderson making a couple more starts to see if he can figure things out on the fly, but he cannot be the only option. Muller’s situation is definitely one to keep monitoring as the trade deadline approaches.
