Braves top prospect JR Ritchie returning to Augusta for first time since Tommy John surgery

Braves roster moves

On the farm, the Augusta Green Jackets — the Braves Low-A affiliate — has announced the return of JR Ritchie. Ritchie will start for them tonight for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last season.

A first round pick in 2022, Ritchie struck out 25 batters in just 13.1 innings for Augusta last season before the injury. So far this year, he has appeared in three Florida Complex League games with varying results, but at this point, the results aren’t too important. At just 21-years-old, time is on his side, and it’ll be exciting to track his improvement through the rest of the 2024 campaign.
